How should yoga clothing be?

NATURAL FABRIC
Natural fabrics both allow air to pass through and also absorb your sweat, thus helping you regulate your body temperature and provide comfort during exercise. Synthetic fabrics, on the other hand, don’t allow air nor energy through and thus make it harder for you to expand your energy circle.
We, at Kamala, with this criteria in mind, chose to use elastane (spandex) combed cotton fabric. Through this material that will shape according to your body, we provide you with the maximum comfort and style possible.
As I myself am also a yoga instructor, I am aware of the importance of your clothes fitting to your body. When I was training in India, our instructor would not allow students with loose clothing to join the class. This principle was embedded into my practice then, and I continue to apply it to my practice still.
But why aren’t loose clothing appropriate for yoga? First of all, loose clothing will make it harder for you to perform the poses and may cause you to trip or fall during yoga. What’s more, during asana, it’s crucial that the position of your knees, shoulders and muscles are visible. That’s why “yoga clothes should fit to your body like it’s your second skin.”
COLOR
There is no colour requirement nor limitation for yoga clothing. If our selection of clothing does not have a colour that you think is suitable for you and does not reflect your energy, we’d love to work with you in creating a piece that does reflect how you see yourself.
COMFORT
During exercise, your clothing shouldn’t make it harder for you to move nor should it distract you by causing discomfort. If you’re getting distracted by thoughts like “my leggings are too tight, my back is too open” then it is only natural that you won’t be able to focus on your practice and get the results you want. That’s why it is imperative for us that your clothing fits you like second skin and is also comfortable like it.
WHO IS SEWING?
The questions above are the ones that come to mind first; however this question, despite being one of the most important, is rarely thought of. I’m sure you’ve heard of the saying “everything holds a piece of the creator’s energy.” Just like how a meal made by a sick person shouldn’t be consumed, the same principle applies for things made by angry people and those with negative energies. The user’s energy is just as important, and shouldn’t be forgotten— we, as the users, also transfer our energy to the creator. That raises the question: who are we exchanging energies with?
At “Kamala Yoga”, we pay great attention to detail and also the style and elegance of your clothing. For us, your clothing shouldn’t just feel comfortable, but should also make you feel good about yourself when you wear it.
